I am currently investigating the role of Notch signalling in the generation of memory CD8 T cells.

I am using a single-cell lineage tracing approach to study the genetic decisions that help the progenitor cells reach a T-cell fate.

I study human T cell development and develop clinically-relevant technologies to recapitulate that process from multiple stem cell sources. I also develop gene editing strategies to study and control the ontogeny of PSC-derived T cells. Check out my twitter! @ATrotmanGrant

In a developing thymus, the majority of double positive T cells will not make it to the periphery. Thymus macrophages play an important role in the phagocytosis of these self-reactive T cells. I aim to define the developmental pathways of these macrophage and their role in thymus reparation after irradiation therapy.

I am currently working on generating CD4+ T regulatory cells in vitro to be used in the context of Type I diabetes model.

Aged individuals are more susceptible to cancer while also showing exacerbated delay in T cell recovery. I’m interested in the critical molecular and cellular interactions between progenitor T cells and the thymus that are differentiated between young and aged mice.
